Commercial Products (COMPRO) is a project that aims to institutionalize quality assurance mechanisms and facilitate rapid dissemination of top quality commercial products to increase yields and improve the food security of smallholder farmers in Africa.

COMPRO II is therefore the second phase of the project, funded by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through a grant to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). IITA works with various partners from the public and the private sectors in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda for the implementation of the project activities.

The project envisages increased awareness targeting at least two million smallholder farmers on effective and profitable commercial products. In addition, through a public private partnership approach, the effective products will be promoted to ensure that at least 400,000 households test at least one of the products and half of them will adopt the technology.

The project also aims to build capacity of target countries in quality monitoring for commercial products and soil fertility management through supporting MSc. and PhD fellows and training professionals.
